Can you take us back to the moment when you started creating 'Catch Me'?
Around mid-April, I felt a pull to create something different. I started with a unique melody but couldn’t find the right vocal to fit the vibe. So, I reached out to Scantraxx for help, and they found me the perfect vocalist. I remember listening to his demo on the way to Hardstyle DNA in Norway, and I got chills! As soon as I returned from the gig, I headed straight to the studio, built out the whole track, tweaked the melody, and finished it just in time to premiere at Intents Festival!
What was your first inspiration, and why did you choose a more melodic sound this time?
The scene is focused a lot on hard drops nowadays and less focused on the
melody, which I personally love. So, with this track, I wanted to bring out my melodic side and offer something fresh!
How do the chills you felt while creating the melody guide your creative process?
When everything falls into place, you start to envision the final track. Sometimes you have a great melody and a huge kick, but if the vocal isn’t right, it stalls the whole track. This time, I had every piece in place just how I wanted, which really motivated me to finish it.
What emotions do you hope listeners will feel when they hear 'Catch Me' for the first time?
I hope listeners feel both euphoria and energy! It’s a track with a lot of drive, especially with the raw part in the middle, so I’m aiming for it to resonate with everyone, even outside the scene.
Tell us about the search for the perfect vocal for 'Catch Me.'
I reached out to Scantraxx because I felt the track’s vibe was strong and didn’t want to add a generic vocal. They connected me with an agency, and the vocalist they found brought the exact energy I was looking for—the rest is history!
'Catch Me' was one of the first tracks you played at Intents Festival this year. What was going through your mind when you played the track live for the first time, and how did the crowd react?
I was definitely nervous—Adaro and I were playing during prime time, and the lineup was heavy on Xtra Raw. But I knew I had to test the track after all the hard work I put into it! When I played it, people threw their hands up during the melody, and they went wild on the drop. It was proof to me that this type of music still has a big place in people’s hearts, which motivates me to do this more often!
The hardstyle scene today is heavily focused on extra raw and hard kicks. How do you try to stand out in this landscape, and why do you choose to embrace that melodic sound?
I fell in love with hardstyle about 15 years ago because of the melodies paired with those massive kicks. I carry that passion into my own music, where I often work with raw elements while exploring the edges of the genre. But this time, I wanted to bring something different to stand out from the current trends. I love raw sounds too, but I prefer variety in a set, not 60 minutes of the same style. I think it keeps things dynamic and interesting.
For the release of 'Catch Me,' you're giving away T-shirts to fans who pre-save the track. Who are the lucky winners?
The winners of the T-shirt giveaway are Jari S. and Jenspaul! They will receive a personal email with all the details.
What else can fans expect from you in the near future?
A lot of new music on a wide scale, because I like to experiment with different
kinds of hardstyle sounds. But I will always stay true to my own sound with Raw
style in particular.
